Hu’i Hu’i Stand Up PaddleBoard Rental takes the safety of our customers seriously.
Every rental comes with a life jacket and a whistle.
Did you know that once you leave the swimming/ocean area with your Stand Up Paddleboard in the eyes of the Coast Guard you are operating a vessel and you need to be prepared to follow the rules that apply to traditional vessels on the water. Stand Up Paddleboarding is growing in popularity and many people are falling in love with this new water sport. It is important that you are a decent swimmer before you head out on your stand up paddleboard.
Stand Up Paddle Board Safety includes being aware of the local rules and regulations.
Always check the weather for the day before you are heading out. If you rent your paddleboards from Hu’i Hu’i we always check the weather for you and can advise on the tides, winds and other hazards that could affect your outing. We also provide a life jacket and whistle for your safety. If you are a beginner avoid crowded areas with a lot of boaters and other SUP fans. You want to work on your balance and paddling skills so you can turn your board and control it before heading out into a busier area of the Intracoastal. Another SUP safety tip is to make sure you apply your sunscreen before you head out. The water really reflects the sun and without protection you will get a serious burn from the South Florida sun.
